Andy Byron resigned as Astronomer's CEO following a viral video showing him and HR head Kristin Cabot in a compromising position at a Coldplay concert. The incident sparked public and internal scrutiny,

Astronomer said that it would begin a search for Byron's successor, with co-founder Pete DeJoy serving as interim chief.

Most recently DeJoy served as the Chief Product Officer for the company, a title he was given just six months ago in February 2025. With Byron getting involved in a public scandal, DeJoy enters a new era as the interim CEO, something his co-founder applauded.

Byron and Cadot were attending the July 16 Coldplay concert. In the middle of the show, Chris Martin introduced a Kiss Cam where the camera panned to Byron with his arms cuddling Cabot. As soon as they saw each other on the big screen, Byron abruptly tried to hide himself and dropped on the ground while Cadot was seen covering her face.
