Brazilian President Lula slammed US visa sanctions on judges presiding over the coup case against former leader Jair Bolsonaro, Donald Trump's far-right ally.

BRASILIA (Reuters) -Brazil's judiciary will not be intimidated by a U.S. decision to target officials involved in the trial of former President Jair Bolsonaro with visa bans, a senior judicial official said late on Friday, criticising the move as arbitrary.

BRASÍLIA: Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Saturday denounced US visa sanctions on judges in the coup case against former leader Jair Bolsonaro, a right-wing ally of Donald Trump.

Police in Brazil swooped on the home and political headquarters of Jair Bolsonaro early Friday, searching the properties, ordering the former president to wear an electronic ankle tag, barring him from speaking to foreign officials or approaching embassies and prohibiting him from using social media.

Brazil’s Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva told Donald Trump to mind his own business after the US leader rushed to the defense of embattled former President Jair Bolsonaro, who is facing charges that he attempted a coup.

Lula was then handed the presidential sash – a hugely symbolic act in Brazil that Bolsonaro had repeatedly said he would never do – by Aline Sousa, a Black garbage collector.
