Leagues Cup 2025 has a new look, with the Columbus Crew aiming to defend their title in a revamped tournament format.

The Major League Soccer regular season will be paused for the third year running to make room for the Leagues Cup tournament, where the Columbus Crew are defending champions. The Black & Gold won last year’s edition in dramatic fashion with a 3-1 win at Lower.

Who will win it all this year? So far only MLS clubs have won the trophy but maybe this year a Mexican team will win.

While competing on the field against teams from the other league, MLS and Liga MX teams will compete in a specific Leagues Cup table against teams from their own league. For example, a victory by an MLS club awards points in the MLS Leagues Cup table, while a LIGA MX victory contributes to the LIGA MX Leagues Cup table.
