Heat Advisory Until Thursday
It is the first day of a stretch of hot weather in the Quad Cities with temperatures already in the upper 80s and heat indices reaching the mid 90s. The National Weather Service has announced a Heat Advisory for the entirety of the Quad Cities viewing area from this heat.
The entire state is under a heat advisory or an extreme heat warning from noon until 8 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Forget about any worries of tropical weather today. Instead pay attention to the heat: temperatures in Jacksonville could feel as high as 113 degrees.
NWS expects the heat value to go up to 110 degrees. The organization warns that hot temperatures, coupled with humidity, may cause heat illness. Precautionary measures provided by NWS include drinking plenty of water, staying out of the sun and staying in air-conditioned rooms.
