The Sacramento Kings have reportedly been targeting former first-overall pick Ben Simmons in free agency as the team looks for extra point guard help and versat

Free agent guard/forward Ben Simmons is expected to decide on a new team within the next week, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. Simmons finished last season with the Los Angeles Clippers in a smaller reserve role.

Ben Simmons is back on the market after completing a buyout with the Brooklyn Nets and briefly joining the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this year. He signed with the Clippers in February following the buyout but played limited minutes before finishing the season on the bench.

Simmons would be a great fit not only for his point guard abilities, but also because Sacramento doesn’t currently have anyone to back up Keegan Murray. He could slot in as the back up power forward, while allowing the Kings to play all of their guards as he runs the offense and guards the larger players on defense.
