First Steps, Fantastic Four and Mcu
Digest more
Fantastic Four has a much different place in the Marvel timeline compared to other projects – here’s how it fits in.
Matt Shakman recently explained the decision to set The Fantastic Four: First Steps on Earth-828, within the MCU multiverse and outside the main timeline. In a new interview, the director revealed how placing Marvel’s First Family on another Earth avoids major continuity issues.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps marks the start of Phase 6 of the MCU, the final phase of The Multiverse Saga that has tested fans and led to Kevin Feige admitting that Marvel has made "too much" since Avengers: Endgame.
Critics seem to at least agree that Fantastic Four is a visual feast and way better than the first three movies Fox made. As someone burnt out on the MCU since Thor: Love and Thunder, I’ll take clearing the low bar over getting walloped in the face by one higher up. Here’s what other reviewers are saying:
First Steps shows Pedro Pascal taking the mantle of Marvel's First Family as the new and blue Mister Fantastic.
She falls in love with Norrin Radd, who is the original Silver Surfer in the comics. He is turned into the cosmic power being after offering to become Galactus' herald, in return for sparing Shalla-Bal's home planet. Footage from First Steps sees that Shalla-Bal has seems to be the one who has taken on this mantle instead.
Kevin Feige has revealed that a Marvel "reset" is in the works – though it's not a full reboot. The news comes ahead of Marvel Phase 6 kicking off in just a few days with the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
