At 2:08 p.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service released a heat advisory in effect until Tuesday at 9 p.m. for Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan and Cullman counties.
We went out to see if anyone was cooling down at local City of Mobile splash pads. It was empty at Tricentennial Park. There was one grandfather leaving Medal of Honor Park with his grandkids in tow. He said he, “Just in the shade over there on the bench,” while they played.
The heat index considers the actual temperature and amount of moisture in the air using the dew point or relative humidity.
The National Weather Service says heat indices as high as 114 are possible in Panama City and issued an advisory. Meanwhile an Atlantic system brews.
